Is made up of qualified and experienced professionals who are well versed in handling insurance portfolios with particular reference to underwriting and claims management of General and non- General insurance policies.

KASALI SALAMI (CHAIRMAN)

He retired from the African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re), Lagos as the Director of Technical Operations. Prior to joining Africa Re, he had worked in a number of organizations including NICON, Lagos, as the Head of R&D Department, and the State Insurance Corporation, Ghana, as a Senior R&D Manager. He was once the Chairman of Beacon Insurance Brokers. He also served as an External lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute in Liberia and later in the Gambia, for nearly two decades.

In order to acquire the necessary expertise required to support his career, he worked with a few companies outside Africa. Among these were Canada life Insurance company Ltd, London and Britannic Assurance Company Ltd in Birmingham. He did some short practical programmes in Swiss Re, Zurich and in two companies in India namely, the National Insurance Corporation of India and J.B. Boda and Co.

Soon after his retirement, he was hired by the Association of Tanzania Insurers in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania to conduct a study on the possible impact of the establishment of Tan Re on the Tanzanian insurance Industry. On completion of the exercise, he took up a short-term appointment with the Industrial and General Insurance PLC(IGI) as the Director of R&D. Based on his previous experience as the Technical Consultant for a proposed management buyout (MBO) of NICON, he joined the IGI’s Technical team responsible for the preparation of due diligence on selected Insurance Companies in Africa. His next assignment was with the State Insurance of Ghana where he was appointed as a consultant to prepare a feasibility study for the establishment of a reinsurance company. On completion of this assignment, he was engaged by the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) to put together a report which served as part of the requirements for the establishment of the Energy and Allied Insurance Pool of Nigeria (EAIPN). He was privileged to have served as an External Consultant to the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and Mainstream Re, Ghana. Kasali has been retained as a Consultant to Africa Re since his retirement from the company in 2002.

He spends time on other interests outside the insurance industry. These include Vita Chemists Ltd where he serves as the Chairman, and Transafric Technical Services Ltd which operates in the solid minerals sector.

OLATUNJI ORISABINONE (MD/CEO)

Tunji started his insurance professional career years ago in Harris & Jones Insurance Brokers. He later proceeded to First Universal Insurance Brokers Ltd (A Subsidiary of Universal Trust Bank Plc), where he effectively managed several units including Underwriting, Finance, Admin and Business Development leading to his elevation as GM/CEO in 2005. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and Masters in Business Administration from Federal University of Technology, Akure. In pursuance of continuing education, he had his Executive management program at the Metropolitan School of Business and Management. He is an Associate member Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN), The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and Member Institute of Directors (MIoD).

His exceptional customer-focused approach tinged with people skills have tremendously assisted in the transitioning of the outfit from UBN Insurance Brokers Ltd (a subsidiary of Union Bank of Nig. Plc) to UBL Insurance Brokers Ltd, resulting in enhanced market share.

STEVE IWENJORA (DIRECTOR)

Steve Iwenjora is a Vice President at ACA. Prior to joining ACA in 2004, Steve garnered several years of professional experience in Financial Control and International Operations from Citibank Nigeria and Continental Trust Bank (now part of United Bank for Africa). Steve also worked with the private equity unit of Renaissance Capital and was the Fund Manager for SIM Capital Alliance, an asset management firm with circa $100m under management.

Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

AFOLABI ELEBIJU (DIRECTOR)

Gifted with an untiring spirit, Afolabi leverages his multidisciplinary background and deep passion for law and business strategy to provide creative solutions to clients’ business problems. A multifaceted professional, Afolabi is a business lawyer (tax and regulatory specialist, including tax litigation and investment disputes), educationist, researcher, author and publisher.

As a commercial lawyer, he possesses two decades’ experience with leading multinational and Nigerian professional services firms, working for reputable market leaders, across all sectors. An acknowledged team player with excellent people skills, Afolabi has creditably discharged supervisory responsibilities at different stages of his career. His extensive exposure to high pressure situations have developed his project management and multi-tasking skills.

FEMI AMUPITAN

Femi Amupitan, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a second class upper degree in Business Administration (Specializing in Actuarial science) in August 1987. He is a multi-talented insurance technocrat with a wealth of experience spanning well over two (2) decades in both Life and General Insurance operations.

As a utility player in the insurance sub sectors, he has variously worked and at different times in his career progression with reputable insurance institutions in Consultancy, Brokerage and underwriting outfits.

He presently sits on the Board of UBN Insurance Brokers as one of its Directors.
